Hussain Dawood

Chairman, Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd

Mr. Hussain Dawood, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK, is the Chairman of Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd., Engro Corporation Ltd, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and Karachi Education Initiative/Karachi School of Business and Leadership.

He serves as a member of the Boards of Pakistan Business Council, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and Beaconhouse National University and is a Member of the Boards of Trustees of Karachi Education Initiative UK, London and Asia House, London. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Anti-Corruption and is active in its Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). Mr. Dawood is the first Pakistani to become a member of the World Economic Forum in 1992.

He is a Global Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), the Patron of the Organization for Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America and the Honorary Consul of Italy, in Lahore. The Italian Government in recognition of his contributions conferred upon him the ‘Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana’.


Mueen Afzal

Mr. Mueen Afzal graduated with honours from the Punjab University before acquiring his M.A in Philosophy, Political Science and Economics from Oxford University in 1963.

A highly respected member of the Civil Service of Pakistan since 1964, he served as Secretary Finance in the Government of Pakistan (1996-1998) and also in the provinces of Punjab (1984-1986) and Balochistan (1981-1984). He also served as Secretary Health in Islamabad from 1995 to 1996.

Mr. Afzal held the post of Secretary General, Finance and Economic Affairs, in the Federal Government from 1999 to 2002, and was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 2002 in recognition of his distinguished public service.

He is, at present, Chairman of the Pakistan Tobacco Company and a distinguished Member on the Boards of ICI Pakistan, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and the Beaconhouse National University.


Aqeel Karim Dhedhi

Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi is the Chairman of the AKD Group; one of the largest business groups in Pakistan with diversified interests such as Stock Brokerage & Investment Banking; Asset Management; Oil & Gas Exploration; Private Equity & Venture Capital; Port Operations, Real Estate Development, etc. The AKD Group is one of the two business groups that have been awarded permission by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan to establish Real Estate Management Trust (REIT) in Pakistan.

Mr. Dhedhi is an active social worker and philanthropist who plays a dynamic role in the social betterment of the society by donating to educational ventures, healthcare projects and for the general uplift of the underprivileged. His philanthropic support includes providing financial aid to students aspiring for higher education in Pakistan and abroad and also to many disadvantaged families.

He contributes his time to many not-for-profit institutions as Trustee and Member of Board of Directors like: The Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital; The Indus Hospital; World Memon Organization; the Resource Development Committee of the Aga Khan University Hospital; etc.

Mr. Dhedhi was awarded the "Sitara-e-Esaar" by the President of Pakistan for his services during the devastating earthquake that hit the northern areas of Pakistan in October 2005. He has also been awarded honorary PhD (Honoris Cause) degrees by Biztek Institute of Higher Education and the Indus Institute of Higher Education.


Arif Habib

Mr. Arif Habib is currently the Chief Executive of Arif Habib Corporation Limited. He is also the Chairman of Pakarab Fertilizers Limited, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, and Arif Habib DMCC Dubai. He also serves as a Director in various companies including Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company Limited. He was appointed to AHCL’s Board on September 21, 2013.

Mr. Arif Habib remained the elected President/Chairman of Karachi Stock Exchange for six times in the past and was a Founding Member and Chairman of the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited. He has served as a Member of the Privatization Commission, Board of Investment, Tariff Reforms Commission and Securities & Exchange Ordinance Review Committee. Over the years he has been nominated on the Board of Directors of a number of companies by the Government of Pakistan.

Mr. Habib participates significantly in welfare activities of different organizations. To quote a few, he remains one of the trustees of Fatimid Foundation and Memon Health & Education Foundation as well as the director of Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and Karachi Education Initiative.

Hasan Irfan Khan

Mr. Hasan Irfan Khan is an advocate admitted to practice before the hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan and has been practicing corporate, commercial and Intellectual Property law since 1993. He is an internationally acclaimed lawyer and is legal adviser to a number of ‘Fortune 100′ and ‘Fortune 500′ Companies in Pakistan. He is member of the Board of Governors, World Wildlife Fund (WWF Pakistan) and Chair, Human Resource Committee since June 2008, and Member Executive Committee since April 2010. Mr. Khan has been a member of the Board of Management, Punjab Institute of Cardiology for over 7 years; his last term ending June 2011. He is the Managing Trustee of the Irfan Family foundation, "Asifa-Irfan Foundation" which focuses on health, education, poverty alleviation, protection and conservation of the environment.

Mr. Khan has authored and co-authored key chapters for numerous legal publications of International repute. He has drafted proposed laws in the public health, pharmaceuticals and the agriculture sectors as well as Intellectual Property laws. He is also one of the five co-authors of the Electronic Transactions Ordinance 2000. He is a member of Patent Advisory Committee of Higher Education Commission, and has also been a member of numerous law related advisory committees to the Government of Pakistan.

Mr. Khan was visiting faculty at LUMS and the Punjab University Law College and has lectured at NIPA, Pakistan Staff College, Foreign Trade Institute and the Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad. Mr. Khan has delivered presentations and lectures at innumerable international and local conferences. He is member of the Lahore High Court and Supreme Court Bar Associations and many international associations such as INTA, ITMA, CPA, APAA, AIPPI, IBA, Law Asia.


Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman

Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman has 843 publications in organic chemistry including 663 research publications, 18 patents, 103 books and 59 chapters in books.

Prof. Rahman was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London) (2006). He won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999). He has been conferred honorary doctorate degrees by Cambridge University (1987), Coventry University (2007), Bradford University (2010), Asian Institute of Technology (2010) and many other universities. He was elected Honorary Life Fellow of Kings College, Cambridge University, UK (2007).

Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman was the Federal Minister for Science and Technology (2000 – 2002), Federal Minister of Education (2002) and Chairman (Federal Minister) of the Higher Education Commission (2002-2008). Successive Governments of Pakistan have conferred four civil awards: Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (1983), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1991), Hilal-i-Imtiaz (1998), and the highest national civil award Nishan-i-Imtiaz (2002). Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman was conferred the TWAS (Italy) Prize for Institution Building (2009) and the Austrian government conferred its high civil award (Grosse Goldene Ehrenzeischen am Bande" (2007) for bringing about revolutionary changes in higher education in Pakistan.

Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman is the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, (OIC Ministerial Committee comprising 57 OIC Ministers of Science & Technology). He is President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.


Munawar Alam Siddiqui

Mr. Siddiqui retired as an Air Commodore from the Pakistan Air Force in 2003. His last post was as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Administration) at Pakistan Air Force Headquarters. For his meritorious services to the PAF, he was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).

He was commissioned in the GD(P) Branch of the Pakistan Air Force in 1974. He is a qualified flying instructor and has flown over 8000 hours on different aircraft including C-130, Boeing-707 and Dassault Falcon 20. He has served as a VVIP and Presidential pilot during his tenure of service and has held various key Command and Staff appointments in the PAF. He served as Director of Air Transport at Air Headquarters from 1996 to 1998 and commanded an operational air force base with over 8,500 personnel from 2000 to 2002.

Mr. Siddiqui holds an M. Sc. in Defence and Strategic Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, an M. Sc. in Strategic Studies from Karachi University, a B. Sc. (Honours) in War Studies from Karachi University and B. Sc. Avionics from Peshawar University. He is also an alumna of the National Defence College.

He is Chairman JS Investment Limited and JS Air (Pvt) Limited and serves as Director on the board of Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation, Hum TV Network Limited, Karachi Education Initiative, Karigar Training Institute and Fakhr-e-Imdad Foundation.


Muhammad Ali Tabba

Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba is the Chief Executive of Lucky Cement Limited, Pakistan’s largest producer and leading exporter of quality cement. Lucky Cement is a part of the Yunus Brothers Group in Pakistan with diversified interests in textiles, energy, cement and other construction related sectors.

Mr. Tabba is widely recognised and venerated for his role in reforming and exponentially growing different companies of the group. Due to his extensive engagement in many community welfare projects, he has received numerous recognitions and awards.

The most notable among the several awards he has received for his social interventions includes the distinction of Young Global Leader awarded by World Economic Forum (WEF) acknowledging his professional accomplishments, distinguished leadership and commitment to shaping a better future.

Mr. Tabba also sits on the Board of Governors at various universities, institutions and foundations. Along with this, he is spearheading the Group’s own Aziz Tabba Foundation with welfare projects in the field of education, health, housing and other social needs.

He adheres largely to the philosophy of compassion left behind by his father Mr. Abdul Razzak Tabba – an eminent industrialist himself, by carrying forward and further expanding his philanthropic initiatives.


Syed Shabbar Zaidi

Mr. Syed Shabbar Zaidi, a Chartered Accountant by profession and partner, A.F. Ferguson and Co. has a distinguished record of achievements to his credit.

He was Past President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and South Asian Federation of Accountants and former Chairman, Professional Standard and Technical Advisory Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

His current responsibilities include being Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan; Member, Developing Nations Committee of International Federation of Accountants; Member, Central Audit Committee of Board of State Bank of Pakistan; Senior Member of the Task Force for Reform of Tax Administration (2000); Advisor, Corporate Rehabilitation Committee of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, and Trustee, Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).


Atif Bajwa

Atif Bajwa has mostly been associated with the financial services industry. During his over 30- year career, he has worked in a diverse range of roles both within and outside Pakistan.

He began his career with Citibank in 1982 and assumed various roles with the Bank for 11 years across Karachi, Lahore, New York and Bahrain. Thereafter, he joined ABN AMRO Bank in Pakistan and served as its Country Manager for three years.

In 1998 he was transferred to Singapore to run ABN AMRO’s Asia Pacific consumer banking business followed by a stint at the headquarters in Amsterdam.

During his time in Europe, he had the opportunity to rejoin Citibank and look after the Bank’s Corporate and Consumer businesses for the Central and Eastern Europe region for the next 4-5 years.

Post that, he assumed a two year position in Dubai at Mashreq Bank after which he returned to Pakistan in 2007 as President of MCB, one of the five big banks in the country.

In 2011, Atif joined the Abu Dhabi Group as President of Bank Alfalah and President of the Abu Dhabi Group for Pakistan.


Zia Ijaz

Mr. Zia Ijaz is currently associated with United Bank Limited (UBL) as Senior Executive Vice President, Group Executive, Retail Bank. He is looking after Retail, Commercial and Consumer Business, Branch Banking Operations and Home Remittance Functions. Prior to joining UBL, Mr. Ijaz was with Allied Bank for 12 years where he held the positions of Senior Executive Vice President / Group Chief Commercial and Retail Banking, Group Chief, Operations and CFO .He had also worked as Financial Controller with Riyadh Bank, Saudi Arabia and as CFO with Askari Bank Ltd. Mr. Ijaz is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.


Muneer Kamal

Muneer Kamal is Chairman of National Bank of Pakistan and Chairman of Karachi Stock Exchange has over 33 years of extensive experience in banking and financial sector. His career started with Citibank where, between November 1979 and July 1994, he served locally and internationally on various senior positions including his term as Associate Director Singapore Training Center. During this association, he also attended a number of training courses I programs in Far East, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Kamal then joined Faysal Bank Limited as President/CEO and led to spread out its operations from 3 branches to 11and also expanded the balance sheet size from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 30 billion.

Mr. Kamal also held position of President/CEO, and then as Vice Chairman of the Union Bank Limited, where he had been instrumental in various acquisitions done by Union Bank Limited i.e. Bank of America, American Express Credit Cards, Emirates Bank international and Mashreq Bank, Sri Lanka. As a result, Union Bank emerged as a success story and was ably acquired by Standard Chartered Bank. After his stint with Union Bank, Mr. Kamal, an MBA from University of Karachi, began his association with KASB Group – as President/CEO of KASB Bank Limited from November 2005 to August 2010.

Besides holding the position of Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Board, Muneer Kamal is also the Chairman of Human Resources & Remuneration Committee and Nomination Committee of KSE and is member of Voluntary De-listing Committee of KSE’s Board.

Other Directorships & Offices include Chairman Karachi Stock Exchange and Director, Government Holdings (Private) Limited. He joined the Engro Board in 2015.


Sabrina Dawood

Mrs. Sabrina Dawood is currently the CEO of The Dawood Foundation & Public School and Director of Engro Foods Limited, prior to which she has been working in various companies of the Dawood Hercules Group, such as Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited and Dawood Lawrencepur Limited in marketing, corporate communications, administration and CSR. She holds an MSc in Medical Anthropology from University College London and a BA from London School of Economics in Anthropology & Law.
